Lita Rossana Ford (or Lita Ford as she is most commonly referred to as, was an American-born British guitarist and singer who led the female-only hard-rock group The Runaways during the late 1970s. While the group did not achieve much success in America but they enjoyed huge popularity internationally. It was particularly true in Japan. Ford's solo heavy metal career had a great success following the split of the band. She took vocal lessons and then released her debut solo album 'Out for Blood then 'Dancin' on the Edge. Her albums weren't very well-received and she stayed away for several years. Her biggest hit, 'Lita' was released in the year 1989. Kiss Me Deadly, and Close My Eyes Forever both quickly became huge hit. Unfortunately her popularity was only brief, and she went under the radar for a few years. The release of Black in 1995 followed by a fifteen year wait for 'Wicked wonderland. The year 2016 brought the release of her latest album of studio work "Time Capsule". Guitar Player Magazine awarded her the prestigious Certified Guitar Legend Award.
