Lita Rossana Ford is popularly referred to as Lita Ford is a British-born American guitarist vocalist and songwriter who served as the lead guitarist of the all-girl rock band The Runaways in the late 1970s.Their punkish sound and rebellious lyrics allowed them to be noticed in the rock world. The band was never able to the group to be a major hit in America however, they enjoyed a great deal of popularity in other countries, especially Japan. Ford was able to enjoy a long and successful career as a heavy-metal solo artist after the group split up in 1979. After taking vocal lessons, Ford released her first self-titled album "Out for Blood" followed by "Dancin on the Edge". Ford did not achieve any success with either record and remained out of the realm of rock for around 10 years. Her smashing hit, 'Lita came out in 1989. Kiss Me Deadly was a major hit, along with the ballad Close My Eyes Forever and Kiss Me Deadly. However, the popularity of her career wasn't lasting and over the course of several years she disappeared. The album 'Black' was released in 1995, and 'Wicked Wonderland 15 years afterwards she reemerged. In 2016, her most recent album, 'Time Capsule, was released. Guitar Player Magazine has awarded her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
