Lita Rossana Ford, also known as Lita Ford is an American guitar player and singer born in Britain. She was the lead guitarist for The Runaways, a hard-rock group comprised of girls in late 1970s. Their punk rock music and raunchy lyrics made them not only the attention of rock fans but also from the community. The group did not have an enormous following in The United States. However, their fame grew internationally especially in Japan. Ford began a solo heavy metal career after the breakup of her group in 1979. Her first solo release was 'Dancin' on the Edge, followed by her record Out for Blood. Ford was unable to achieve any success with either record and disappeared from the world of rock for around 10 years. Ford returned to the scene with her smashing hit album , 'Lita' which came out in 1988. The hit single 'Kiss Me Deadly' and the ballad 'Close My Eyes Forever' both became huge hits. However, her success was only not long-lasting and, for a few years after, she went under the radar. After releasing 'Black, in 1995, and then 'Wicked Wonderland, 15 years later she returned. She released her latest album Time Capsule in 2016. Guitar Player Magazine has awarded her The Certified Guitar Legend Award.
